Kevin,

IMHO, rote memorization is very important. Why is memorization any different than an artist or athlete repeating the same drill over and over? IMHO, it is a necessary learning tool that needs to be well developed. And there are some well paying and very important jobs that require a very good memory (Physician comes to mind). If your child ever desires to become an M.D., wouldn't it be nice for him or her to develop those learning skills early? Your kid can learn logic in College LOL.
