The article was about Prescott, which will get to 4,5,6 GHz unless Moore's Law runs into a wall (I know it's based on transistor count, but speed happens to follow). Different parts of the chip, and not just the I/O vs. CPU, could be on different clocks, to get the most work out of them. So what the f___ is your problem?
