I am beginning to see an emperor with no clothes.
But he's no fool that emperor. His people are crafty politicians. His group is also very powerful. And rich. Plus he does deserve some credit. Not many long weekends at the ranch.

The economy plus Enron energy scandals are my prediction for his downfall. But that will take time. Until then watch him try to turn Saddam into a big re-election/drilling deal. His real focus seems to be on those big energy contracts and a second term. "First, do something for the boys". As if he hasn't done enough for them already. And they him. How long can Cheney hang onto those papers? Or have they already been shredded like Arthur Anderson's?

Bush is on relatively safe ground for another year or so.
The Saddam card becomes the big one to watch. After that, people may be tired of war and a lousy economy. And there will be Enron. As a lame duck, we will see what he's really made of.
