MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- International Data Corp. (IDC) here appears to have raised its original forecast for the worldwide semiconductor industry, predicting 1.3% growth in 2002 and 17% in 2003.

In October, IDC predicted that the worldwide semiconductor market would decline by some 7% in 2002 over 2001. The overall IC market was projected to fall by staggering 35% in 2001 over 2000, according to IDC in Mountain View (see Oct. 12 story ).
