It just seems odd to me that you spend all that effort on it, and spend so much time posting about it.
Have you ever resurrected a Briggs lawn-mower engine that'd been declared "dead" and been excited about it? If not (and I suspect that's the case), you couldn't possibly understand.
We apparently share a love of things mechanical, but from completely different angles. For me, it's the interactions with the machinery, or the "escapades" that're fun. When I talk about thrashing around on a road course, it's about the fun of driving cars at speed in a safer environment; not about how expensive the car is. I'm driving cheap, old Mustangs fer chrissakes.
When you berate someone for having "junk", and that same person has excitedly described and photographed parts of cars he literally dug out of the trash in a place he calls "Boogerville", it's really more amusing than offensive. <g>
If you think I shouldn't talk about playing around on racetracks just because I'm driving cheap cars, and that I should be embarassed about them being cheap, you're missing the point. Since I do most of this playing with Porsche and BMW clubs, I'm already aware of what comparative "junk" my cars are, and also aware of just how much it doesn't matter.
Anyway, I apologize if my blunt answer came across as "obnoxious". My intent was to be unabashedly clear and concise and to discourage further attempts (by others and yourself) to enlist my aid in things that (fortunately) don't concern me. |
