While Perot may have cost Bush Sr. the election in '92, I don't think Nader cost Gore the election in '00. I'm not sure there was a significant environmental vote in any of the states that Bush won that could have tilted the election in Gore's favor. Also, stats that I saw prior to the election indicated that most of Nader's supporters would not have voted had he not entered the race. Re: Petroleum substitutes: Alternative energy in this country has been placed on the back burner far too long. It's time for a new national commitment in this area.
