Meanwhile, the INTC thread is often visited by AMDroids who talk all sorts of trash about Intel and dream all sorts of fantasies over AMD. But it's clear to me that many of these 'Droids don't even hold one share of AMD, and if they do, they are unlikely to hold for longer than a year. That tells me they hate Intel more than they believe in AMD. What does that tell you about AMD as a company?

Tenchusatsu, first of all there is no question that AMD does not have the following that INTC has. That's not to say that there are not AMD investors who hold the stock long term but that has always been more the province of INTC investors. So its not surprising that AMD investors trade in and out of the stock.

And as for the buy and hold crowd, let me be the first to tell you that they are going out of fashion. Buying tech on a buy and hold basis has proven not to be very lucrative for some time now. How's your 401 doing the past two years? I know mine, consisting of half tech, has been trashed and btw that tech includes some INTC. The kind of loyalty you talk about worked when it appeared that tech would ramp upwards forever. But now that that kind of future is anything but assured to hold tech long term is akin to thinking that there is a future in lava lamps.
