There are reports of smoke trailing from the aircraft, as well as reports of landing gear trouble. I'm not saying this is conclusive proof one way or the other, but pilots vary in their ability to deal with distraction. This is especially true of noncommercial pilots. I can tell you that having the plane on fire would be a distraction of the highest order! Having landing gear trouble is less so, but it was still enough to cause the two-person crew of a historic airliner to not notice that they were running out of fuel in Seattle recently. It is possible that distractions could have caused the pilot of this airplane to look away from the window for too long. Reports are that manually pumping down the landing gear in the type of airplane that crashed today requires the pilot to twist around behind him.

It's even possible that the cockpit could have been filled with smoke to the extent that he couldn't see where he was going. As with all aircraft accidents, it takes a long time, i.e., weeks, months, or years, to collect all the data and do the analysis needed to officially assign a probable cause. I recognize that investors, and especially speculators, need to come up with their best guess as soon as possible, but the evidence for terrorism is certainly not a slam dunk at this time.
