I heard a rumor that we are nearing the top in regards to speed with the intel chips. The problem they are having has something to do with the heat generated at faster clock cycles degrades the layers of masking in the chip. Hence much more prone to failure. I don't know if this is true or would be a problem in RISC chips, Any comments?
