Israel apparently has problems with its military obeying the Geneva convention. Is it possible for Israel to order its military to obey these rules? Would the military obey them? And there are cases where Israeli extremists take it upon themselves to commit acts of terrorism against the Palestinians. For example, see:

American Jewish Congress President Jack Rosen and Executive Director Phil Baum issued the following statement today following the killing of three Palestinians, reportedly by an Israeli extremist group:

Jews the world over are appalled by the reprehensible attack by Israelis reportedly by a militant extremist group associated with the outlawed Kach faction killing three Palestinians, including a baby. That attack was cold- blooded murder pure and simple, and the selection of victims was random and mindless.

The constant murderous assaults by Palestinians on Jewish travelers are certainly no justification. Assuredly, the Palestinian Authority is culpable for failing to stop and punish such attacks. Deliberate and calculated killings of Arabs by Israelis are not an acceptable response.

I would think that the extremists are fairly satisfied with Sharon in power. But with peace, will they return to their extreme ways?
