1) No one said it was OK. Not me, not anyone here.
Did you stage a sitdown strike on Parliament's steps to stop it?
No? I didn't think so.

Whether you like or not, given current technology and economics, we've got to have oil. Period.

Also, just what business is this of yours? The ANWR is in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, not Great Britain. Oh, just in case you missed it, we're no longer a British colony. That was settled at bayonet point.

The North Sea is NOT a protected environment.
The ANWR IS a protected environment.

I see. So we should be punished by you Brits for designating parts of our country national parks and wildlife preserves.

Why DIDN'T you declare the North Sea a preserve? Then you could have this problem. O didn't you prefer making money for your socialistic programs?

Or do you just not give a f*ck so long as you have YOUR SUV?
Clear miss. I don't have an SUV. A small fuel-effiicient compact.
Try again?

5) When you speak about "everyone's" betterment, how much better off are your grandchildren - you know, the ones without oil, petrol, water or indeed fertile land?
If we'd applied that logic 25,000 years ago, we wouldn't have civilization.

Or are you sterile? Or, hey, maybe you're like JLA and have no testes? Sorry, was that a sore point?
No. But it IS a personal attack. They're frowned on on this thread.

You have a scarce, irreplaceable resource. It has various uses; it can be substituted in each, but in the short term this will cost more. Which is the best choice?
1) burn it all in really big engines, so that people can travel faster at their own convenience.
2) use it carefully but still burn it all, to avoid the costs of finding a replacement.
3) try using the replacements and save it for as long as you can. Pay more, short term, but maybe earn more in the longer (10+yr) period.

Oh. Well. We're not planning on going out of business when the last drop of oil is burned. We're not even planning on giving the world back to you Brits. We're pretty good scientifically and technologically, in case you didn't notice. We'll handle the problem. Amazing the way need can inspire business to find solutions.

What you want is a solution that brings the United States of America down to your level. We're not planning on cooperating.
