Not the greatest analogy though perhaps, as the US hasn't tried to physically take our territory since 1814 ... this cannot be said for Israel ... when was the most recent 'settlement' established, anybody know? ... pretty recent, is my impression

True but Canada wasn't invading the US every decade or so from the 40s to the 70s. Jordan invaded Israel. Israel took the West Bank from what was then "Trans-Jordan". If Canada invaded the US intent on destroying us, and we counterattacked and grabbed a few choice bits of Canadian real estate I'm not so sure the US would avoid using it, particularly if Canada kept calling for the destruction of the US.
