Hong Kong, April 19 (Bloomberg) -- Varitronix International Ltd., which supplies flat-panel displays to mobile-phone makers, said profit narrowed because sales fell by about a fifth.

The company reported net income of HK$44.6 million ($5.7 million), or 15 HK cents per share, compared with HK$200 million, or 69 cents a share a year earlier. Sales fell to HK$1 billion from HK$1.3 billion.

The company, which has counted Motorola Inc., the second- largest mobile phone maker, among its customers, said sales to multinational companies fell by the largest amount. The company wrote off HK$42 million in stock at a Malaysian unit, which Varitronix said had the biggest decline in sales.
