What's required is a period of "confidence building" wherein the Palestinians are gradually nurtured into an economic state that poses no military threat to either Israel or Jordan.

The most compellling argument Israel can present for maintaining settlements is the issue of security and the potential threat that a militarized Palestinian state poses to the heartland of Israel. After all, Arafat is no Ghandi, or Nelson Mandela... His track record over the past 30 years has him attempting to overthrow the King of Jordan, and calling for the utter destruction of Israel.

Thus, he's a threat to both countries.

Can we agree on that?.. :0)
