The point is, oil could easily be much, much cheaper then than now.

Even better. It would we ( the population of earth) would have even more time with cheap oil, even more time to develop alternatives, which would mean that when this resource starts to run out, and the price skyrockets, there would be viable alternatives in place to replace the expensive oil. At about this time (when oil gets expensive) would be a good time to drill for oil in ANWAR.
