My rule is not to post news stories unless I think they are unique, we all have them available. I try to stick to opinion and analysis articles. I will also try to post opinions that I do not agree with, if I think they are well written. Let me add one more rule, if I might. That's trying to annotate one's posts. Let readers know why you consider the post important, either by writing your own prose about it, or highlighting the text sections that are important to you, or bringing them to the beginning of the post, or some combination of the above.
