Safe once more, are we? Well that isn't real encouraging since I've been making money writing covered calls on my HTCH, I even finally got my total cost basis down below the market price a few months ago, if you like to look at things that way. The nice thing about these sector cave ins is that balance sheet based judgements start to become reliable. Now your telling me folks are going back to looking at earnings again and boy does that throw things out of whack :o)

No one has mentioned it but I would think that IBM/Hitachi should be better seen in a Seagate context. On the face of it looks to me like an attempt to put something together that can effectively compete with SEG on all fronts. Another factor may be IBM's competition with EMC in the enterprise storage market. EMC and SEG have been pretty tight, and IBM has had less than overwhelming success there. One thing is for sure, as a publicly available investment pool, the disk drive sector has shrunk to a mere shadow of its former self.
Best Regards......Tom
