If you are a logger then you know that the watershed from which you cut determines how fast (or if) regrowth is possible. 50 year old forest in sea-level Western Washington where I grew up is pretty decent in terms of tree density. Not so in the elevated areas due to a shorter growing season. The loss of habitat has been largely in the temperate rainforest. 12% of that is not remaining and I'd have you check your numbers on that. I think you will find it is more like 1% of that particular habitat. Now, of the alpine community, it may be as much as 90% is left. But, really, that is not good stewardship. A lot of what has been locked up is, quite frankly, not very loggable (in a sustained way). No trees or biodiversity on rocks, a glacier or lake, right? .
