Joe, <for Democrats, it is not about reason, it is just pure politics.> You can't blame them. A small but significant portion of the left voted for Ralph Nader in the last election. Dems have to cater to the green wackos while still looking centrist enough for the average American. Had there been a reasonable discussion on the issue, Congress might have struck a balance between the environment, national security, and the global economy. But that would have risked the Dems now faltering hold on the Nader voters, so they almost have no other choice but to play partisan politics again. Tenchusatsu P.S. - I probably sound a lot like Rush Limbaugh now. Maybe there's a future in AM radio for me? ;-)
