And off into the endless battlegrounds of Freudian psychiatry we go! There is a simpler expedient though: Homosexual relations was a BIG factor in aiding the spread of AIDS. A fatal, incurable disease. Random heterosexual acts (such as prostitution) also helped spread it- -after it had been spread by homosexual activity, and after that activity had spread it to the drug-using population. And anal sex is largely a homosexual activity. And it is inherently dangerous because it involves inserting human flesh into a heavily microorganism-laden environment. Faithful heterosexual activity is STILL pretty safe. As you mentioned, some diseases can still be transmitted that way. Not often, though, and they are curable. There are serious public health issues in addition to any moral ones. Ask that San Francisco Director of Public Health the Queen Di fired for shutting down the bathhouses and upsetting the gays.
