Reynoso,
Tracked ? How and what is tracked with Windows XP?
I like anonymity. I stopped registering all products long time ago. If there is nothing in it for me, I will not let the manufacturer that I have their products.
For one thing, there are the license agreements that are like signing your life away. This apparently is part of FrontPage license:
You may not use the software in connection with any site that disparages Microsoft, MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, or their products or services, infringe any intellectual property or other rights of these parties, violate any state federal or international law, or promote racism, hatred, or pornography."
If you register the product, you are basically confirming to them that you have accepted the license agreement, which I have no intention of doing, if I can avoid it.
Than there is the issue of registration, obtaining IDs etc. Windows 2000 / Office 2000 does for me all I need for now. I am not saying I will never switch to XP. But I will do it only when the appeal of the new features / functionality outweighs the odor of the big brother tactics.
Joe
PS: A lurker, David Taylor tells me that WinXP is also more resource hungry when it comes to memory, which is another reason not to "upgrade" to XP, now that the memory prices are at the high end of the cycle. |
