Re lying...I've been watching this thing most of my life. During wars, reports from the Israelis generally tended to be true and verifiable, re number of casualties, planes destroyed, etc. In general, the Arab nations kept putting out how they were advancing, how their air forces were winning, etc. Most of their claims were proven false as soon as observers arrived.
I actually once thought Arafat had changed. I don't remember exactly when, but it may have been several years B4 he won the no belly prize. I have since apologized to my mother for that one. Should get an oscar for his middle career.
Sharon has been a big part of the problem, going back to Lebanon and the settlements. However, waiting in the wings are Benny and the Jets, an even worse alternative.
11 US presidents have dealt with this whole mess. 6 Israeli presidents, left, right, and center, have dealt with Arafat, sometimes at the expense of their career or life. The best chance for peace died with Rabin.
Move the Vatican to Jerusalem, make it a holy world city under UN control. Put a wall around Israel. Keep the settlements, and give the settlers Palestinian citizenship (no dual citizenship allowed). Have a multinational Arab telethon, run, and with money collected by, UN, to build Palestinian nation. QED KISS
I don't mind critizing Isreal. I'm certainly critical of the USG most of the time, so what's a little bit more for I?
