I would consider such a petition if it treated real perpetrators of genocide and war crime, Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons and killed more than 30,000 Kurds, in just one of his rages. Assad bombed Hama and killed 20,000 of his own citizens. Putin is still killing hundred of Chechnians, and of course, Bush should be put on trial for killing Afghans, Reagan for killing Granadians and that is only a partial list.
Sabra and Chatila, while an affront to humanity was just another "inter-Arab" massacre, revenge by the Christians against helpless Palestinians for the PLO massacre of Christian Arabs in Lebanon. The Phalangists were supposed to go into Sabra and Chatila to catch armed terrorists from the PLO, they claimed that they knew the "territory" better than the IDF did and were allowed to proceed, the authorization referred to armed PLO only. Some (including the Israeli Supreme court, not the Parliament) claimed that Sharon should have foreseen the possibility of a massacre, and thus his misjudgment forced hm to resign. No court has shown that Sharon gave any order to conduct such a massacre. On the other hand, Arafat's hands are bloodied with murdered American citizens all over the world as well as hundred of Israeli civilians, targetted by him as civilians. Where is your outrage on Arafat's ways? Have you signed the petition requesting Arafat be put on trial?
I apologize to the thread for the deviation from the "No-Politics" heading of this thread, but this post could not go unanswered.
