Yes the word "invented" was never used though the GOP spinners made it seem as if it was. In fact Gore WAS the first congressman to take the "information superhighway" idea to the forefront and get government backing. So he did help create it. The real tech inventors of the net give him full credit where credit is due. Gore should have defended himself more vigorously against this. Big difference between "invention" (scientific) and helping "creation" (making it happen politically). This is Gore's #1 achievement in life and the GOP actually used it against him. Gore should have fought back. One reason he didn't win the electoral college, though he did win the popular vote of course. He told people he'd fight for them but he didn't fight for himself. SHould have had ads showing him as a young congressman closing the first deal on the internet's creation. Just posting here we owe a lot to Al.
