Look at HP, they make nothing on inkjet printers, but the ink is pure gold.

There is a difference between HP and Epson. HP puts more electronics in the cartridge. I think the jets themselves are somehow controlled or built into th cartridge. Epson has this as a part of the printer. This makes the cartridges cheaper.

Cheaper that is, as long as the jets of the Epson printer stay unclogged. In that case, you dump the whole printer (or go through the repair / shipping etc nightmare). In case of HP, you just dump the cartridge in the garbage, if it is clogged, and keep the printer.

I have had both, Epson and HP, and over the life of both, Epson cartridges ended up a lot more expensive, since I had to dump the printer after using up about 2 cartridges. HP is still working fine.
