looks like
maybe Bush was trying to help orchistrate the removal of Hugo Chavez, the democratically elected Pres of Venezuela.
Chavez is an independent leader, who does not 'cow tow' to the desires of the Bush Family's oil interests.
You would have thought we would learn our lesson after such failures as the Shah, and even Bin Laden himself.

FANNING THE FREE PRESS FLAMES

Canal 26-KNTV outpaced the El Paso Times in media manipulation over the past weekend. It mirrored its
national network Univision in providing anti-government media coverage of the attempted overthrow of
Venezuela's democratically elected president, Hugo Chavez. Univision is controlled by Benevision, Venezuel's
major television consortium. In turn, Venevision is woned by Latin America's largest media organization,
Venezuela's Grupo Cisneros, whose other interests include DirecTV, AOL Latin America, Coca Cola, and beer
and bottling companies.
Gustavo Cisneros, who has been ranked by Forbes Magazine as the fifty-fifth richest man in the world, is a
friend of President Bush, and anti-Chavez forces linked to Cisneros were in Washington four days prior to the
coup effort. When President Chavez reinstated and gave a reconciliatory speech, private Venezuela media
reporters claimed they couldn't leave their homes, and provided no news coverage of those events. Canal 26
carried private telephone calls from Venezuela that stated that Chavez was a threat to U.S. interests, as well as
unfounded romors that he had again been thrown out.
