In 10-15 years we can reduce oil use by 75% and replace it with other fuels. Then we would be completely free of OPEC. Bush's plan to drill everywhere gives us maybe 10% more fuel but wastes our environment and minimizes alternative fuel programs, so in the long-run it keeps us much more dependent on OPEC. Bush admits hydrogen is the fuel of the future but the future can be 10 years from now not in the next life-time as he sees it. Bush's priority is simple, maximum profits for his friends who put him in office. Nothing else is more important except his re-election of course.

Egregious the way Bush tries to use "evil" Saddam as a scare tactic to promote driling ni the wilds. Yes Saddam is a problem but he's not a direct threat to us now. we still control his air-space. Yes we ought to take him out but it's un-patriotic to use any such step-up of military or covert action as politically-spun leverage to close a massive giveaway deal to his cronies in Big Oil and lay waste to millions of acres of wild-lands.

By the way, Bush never uses the word "oil" anymore, just "energy". He also never uses the word "Enron".
