LOL!! Yeah, there's nothing like that feeling of the boat SCREAMING across the water, just balanced on the edge of a capsize... and you're making it happening and preventing the looming disaster. Love it. I sailed small centerboarders on local lakes and also keelboats on that infamous San Francisco Bay of a thousand tricks. Blowing out a spinnaker in one race. We lost badly, of course. Getting caught in an unexpected and unpredicted blow and crawling into harbor with shredded sails. But we made it. I went sailing the next day after that because I figured if I didn't get right back on the horse, I'd never get on again. Looking under the jib and seeing a 65-footer about to bisect us. You know that bit about your life flashing before your eyes? It's true. Hard to describe, but true. I grabbed the stick and shoved as hard as I could against the resistance and complaints of the helmsman. We made it. Obviously.

And lots and lots of fun smooth sailing.

Youe son is lucky. I was in my mid-20s before I learned how to sail.
