<<Youe son is lucky. I was in my mid-20s before I learned how to sail.>>

I've never done much sailing although I did get to steer a 10 meter day racer on Lake of the Woods in Canada.

I did learn how to run a power boat when I was 11. It was a small boat, about 16', and the owner taught me the controls and all about nun and can buoys. Our trip was to Kentucky Lake and one evening my dad and the boat owner thought it would be a nice night to go white bass fishing. Never mind that storms were forecast.

We went several miles to where we were going to fish and the skies opened up. Pitch black and the owner of the boat grabbed his chest and keeled over. Heart attack. My dad had never even started a boat before so he started feeding the guy Nitro tablets and I got us to the dock. Fast drive through the hills with the windows open to the man's house. His wife was a nurse and had everything on hand to treat him. A shot, some oxygen and a drink and he was ok an hour later.
