JW--Your pessimistic scenario for tech stocks, including QCOM, overlooks the fact that 2002 is an election year. The Republicans are trying very hard to recapture the Senate and maintain their majority in the House. A poorly performing economy and stock market would almost guarantee that the Democrats would increase their control in the Senate and take over the House. The Republicans will try every trick in the book to keep the economy moving along and jump start a stock market rally--even if the consequences are long term inflation and a devaluation of the dollar.

Notwithstanding the warnings of technical analysts and others who rely on trend analysis to predict the future, it seems highly unlikely to me, given the politics, that a major downturn is imminent. A mini bull market has a greater chance of happening in the next three to six months than the catastrophe you predict.
