good point, Art... but Bush strongarm efforts are backfiring as he attempts to exert control, show leadership, all we get are federal deficits, rising oil costs, and world tension you are right, an election year will have attempt to pumpprime but Democratic ineptitude among its leaders almost ensures a shift toward Republican Congress Daschle is one of the bestdressed clowns ever seen in WashDC the Enron mess hasnt touched Bush Admin we stand behind our leader during War Drumbeats I dont know how politicians can do much to light a fire under the Stock Market Congressional inaction on gutting the tax rebates, blocking new energy development domestically, as well as minor scandals like Condit (murder?) and Traficant (racketeering) virtually renders Congress is a non-entity sideshow laughing stock maybe we will see a SECOND HALF RECOVERY finally sooner or later this decade, one is due <g> I tend to think the real trouble comes after LaborDay it will come as minor inflation generally and headlines grabbing energy cost problems a big problem could unfold with the RECOVERY itself fomenting sharply rising energy costs MidEast only exacerbates it meanwhile any Fed action can only hurt the economy now raising rates chokes off the recovery doing nothing sows more seeds for future inflation meanwhile, they are flattening off MZM money supply they did the same thing from late 1999 to early 2000 / jim
