BENTONVILLE, Ark., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. NYSE: WMT), reported net sales for the five week period ended July 4, 1997, of $11,150,000,000, an increase of 11.8% from the $9,977,000,000 in the similar period in the prior year. Sales for the twenty-two week period were $45,850,000,000, an increase of 11.8% from the 41,002,000,000 in the similar period in the prior year.
Sam's Clubs sales for the five week period were $2,013,000,000, up 3.4% from sales of $1,947,000,000 in the similar prior year period. Club sales for the twenty-two weeks of $8,319,000,000 were up 4.3% from the $7,976,000,000 in the similar prior year period.
