Northgate Exploration Limited: Tentative Labour Agreement Reached at Kemess Mine

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Northgate Exploration Limited (TSE:NGX - news) today announced that it has reached a tentative agreement on a new three year collective agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115, representing approximately 300 production and maintenance employees at its Kemess Mine. Details of the agreement will not be released until the Union has had an opportunity to present it to the employees. The Union and members of its bargaining committee have agreed to recommend its acceptance.

``We are pleased to have reached this agreement following lengthy negotiations with the Union and our employees. We can now focus on continued operational success at the Kemess Mine and the start of exploration drilling at the Kemess North Project which is scheduled for early June'' stated Ken Stowe, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Northgate is in the business of mining and exploration for gold and copper, with a focus on opportunities in North and South America. The Corporation's principal assets are the 275,000 ounce per year Kemess South mine in north-central British Columbia and the adjacent Kemess North project where a significant exploration discovery was made in 2001. Significant growth potential exists at Kemess North, which contains an inferred resource of 5.7 million ounces of gold.
