As the masked men fled the scene, they shouted they were from the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a militia linked to Arafat's Fatah movement.
A foreign television crew filmed the shooting from the back of the crowd, capturing the gunmen backing away, continuing to fire at their targets, and then fleeing.
Ibrahim Abdo, 26, of Jifna village near Ramallah, died in a Ramallah hospital after being left to bleed in the streets. Ambulances also were kept back from two others who were less seriously wounded and who hospital officials identified as Maysarah Nijem, 33, and Talat Qadada, 26, both of the Gaza Strip.
Dozens of accused collaborators have been executed in recent months. In early April, 10 Palestinians were killed for allegedly providing Israel information, including one man whose body was strung up from a monument in the center of Ramallah.
During the first anti-Israel uprising in the Palestinian territories in 1987-93, some 800 Palestinians accused of collaboration were killed. |
