What is your view on declaring certain sexual acts illegal?

Very dim. For one thing, we don't need to learn yet another time (Prohibition?) that laws that cannot practically be enforced tend to generate more lawlessness (beyond that particular law), than law-abiding. I think the main point is that a line has to be drawn in the sand somewhere as to what behaviors will be generally condemned by our society. Because that exact line would be very difficult to draw with any kind of full consensus, I believe it is best accomplished by what people say in one venue or another, this thread being one of them. There is such a thing as social opprobrium, and I don't know how else it can come into being. Perhaps the contempt over "lack of patriotism" expressed after after September 11th, is an example of "S. O." in action. The societal scorn of the NAMBLA agenda is likewise heard and felt.

What disturbs me, is that there are so many pressures to discourage any such expression, under the labels of P.C., or not being judgmental, or multiculturalism, or whatever. This leads to fear of being pejoratively labelled if one speaks their mind. That leads to silence. Which leads to what is claimed to be tacit approval.

All of which is why .... I shoot my mouth off so much.
