Strange, isn't it?

In the US, the Christian right appears to be solidly behind Israel while the European far right is anti-Semitic.

Yesterday, just for grins, I tuned into one of the religious programs that are televised on Sunday mornings to get a sense of what it is that the Christian right is into these days. Heard a sermon backing Israel unconditionally, with all the appropriate Biblical references from St. Paul's letters to the Romans. The audience was enthralled.

There was damned little discussion of a political agenda, though it was clearly present in the subtext. The support was rationalized on a Scriptural interpretation which I didn't particularly follow.
