America should first physically separate the Israelis and Palestinians. That means that President Bush should not just continue to ask Israel to withdraw from the West Bank, he should cut off all U.S. aid to Israel until the withdrawal is complete. Second, we have to help set up an independent state for the Palestinians, and send troops to the region to guard borders. Scott, this type of "solution" is being recommended to us from all over the world. "Let the Americans do it!" I sure hope we don't get pushed into something like this. It would be a bigger quagmire than Vietnam ever dreamed of being. Remember the Beirut Marine Corps Bombing? We would have things just as bad, or worse, happen, and we would never be able to get out. It would take several divisions, an "enforced" separation, and unending controversy. If there was ever a situation that needed some "Benign Neglect" applied to it, It is Palestine.
