I am in North San Diego County and I have just tried VOD from COX. The seemingly slow pace of the first VOD rollout on COX had caused me great concern that this, and particularly CCUR's technology, had some ugly flaws which were being covered up. This rollout has completely erased those concerns. When compared to the first digital PPV movie that I watched nearly three years ago, I'd say that it was flawless. Whereas the first PPV movie that I watched three years ago had a glitch which tiled out the picture for 10 minutes, there was no such problem. I also have digital telephone w/ COX as well. They seemed slow in getting to our neighborhood but when it went in, it worked flawlessly. It has been a totally transparent cange to get telephone service switched from Pac Bell to Cox. By transparent I mean that it looks feels and operates like the real Ma Bell. COX is doing it right! And they are doing it more right than they did three years ago. That's real important for the financially dicey waters that cable operators have to navigate. The wireline guys (i.e. SBC et al) are not doing nearly so good a job as the cable guys with new and innovative technology.
