Shall we suppose that the families of those who died at Deir Yassin or Kafr Kasem did not weep? That the peasant tenants evicted to make way for settlers did not shed tears?

But what the hell, all that happened long ago, and is easily forgotten. The people who threw the stone in the pool are long dead by the time the waves hit the shore. Why remember the past, or think of causative chains, when it is so much easier to take the simple view?
