Point taken Gulu.Although if you look at alot of my posts my interest has laid with the emerging O&G players mostly of maritime origins or interests.I like following the ones that all the quote"Experts" claim are nothing and watch them become something. That is true satisfaction to me.
You are also right with the DD aspect. Most so called experts are lazy and don't take the time nor do they have the know how to do DD on these emerging stocks. They become blinded by their inability to do so and rely on having others do it for them so they can do quick scans and find what they need to make their informed decisions as they call them.Hence, the success of O&G analysts and those who purport to be.
I have found in my 20 some years or so of investing starting with Dome Pete in the late 70's and early 80's that there is money to be made in stocks that everyone else avoids and did very well with Dome when it was on the verge of bankruptcy. Most quote "experts" were saying to stay away.I made money on it and good money.Did I know the risks?Yes.
I have found that if you know the right questions to ask it minimizes your downside. I have also found that rather than play a blue chip type O&G stock I will take my chances by doing good DD and playing the emerging ones.Look back at the history and see who made the big money in O&G.Those playing the blue chip plays or those playing the riskier emerging ones.Oh yes, some of the riskier ones don't pay off and conversely some of the larger ones teach those so called experts some valuable lessons as well.
See, I came to this thread initially with OEL.V and there are a few here who slammed me as it did not fit what they felt was their criteria as to what they wanted to see on this "Canadian Oil and Gas" thread. They want to control it and the info flow. This is their mistake IMHO.I have been told that OEL.V is a pump and dump but over 4 years later it is still trading.Pump and Dump???? I think not or it would be trading in the pennies or less now and would not have the Proven O&G reserves in Louisiana.
As to a contract with OEL.V----not on your life. That is the first thing people accuse you of to try and dissuade you from not conforming to their agenda.Just like in politics when someone labels a certain person as a dangerous individual.I am in a different business altogether but still dealing with money and have been since 1978 on the investment side.
I will continue to post those stocks that are emerging here or on any O&G thread here on SI.My watch and investment list thus far is CDH.V(the Mccully formation near Sussex NB as well as property in PEI)YRY.V(property in PEI with almost 65% of PEI leased and set to drill at least 2 wells in Late may or early June after having done 3D seismic and identified numerous targets)AMN.V(Recently changed it's direction and went back to O&G but in the Trinidad area on two land deals there set to drill wells in May or early June) OEL.V (Recently announced a PP for 3MILLION units at .41 to raise 1.2 million to be used to accelerate the Remedial work program in Louisiana)KBC.V/CCX.V/OEL.V(JV group with CCX.V in control as operator to drill at least one well this summer on The Horton/Debert prospect where seismic was completed near Truro Nova ScotiaNot far from the Hunt Oil well that was drilled cased and cappedback in 1994)ONG.V(Set to complete work on the Souris prospect and the new lease they were awarded by the PEI government...on watch for now)
And that is my list with a few others in NFLD.Remember, these are risky but the upside is tremendous.I was always told the secret to successful investing is Info, Info, Info and buy low and sell higher.Am I missing something here????

Regards,
The Osprey
