WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2002--CBQ, Inc. (OTCBB:CBQI) today announced that it has appointed Dr. John M. Albertine as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Dr. Albertine served as Vice Chairman of Fruit of the Loom Company from 1986 to 1990, and was formerly President of the American Business Conference and Executive Director of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee under Chairman Lloyd Bentsen (D.-Tex.). Dr. Albertine also headed a presidential committee on aviation safety under President Reagan and holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia.
Dr. Albertine succeeds W. Stephen Garrett, who has resigned from CBQ, Inc. to pursue other business interests.

He is currently a director of an American Stock Exchange company, Kadant, Inc., Intermagnetics General, a NASDAQ- listed company and Highstreet Capital Management, LLC, a financial management partnership.
Dr. Albertine is frequently heard on Public Radio International's Market Place, appears on ABC and NBC television and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, Business Week, and Fortune magazine.
