The Coming of Age. The Weaving of An Enterprise. by this_sun_is_rising_fast who is this masked man???? "The Coming of Age. The Weaving of An Enterprise."
... is the most appropriate description of the evolving technology landscape around the world, and the dedicated effort of the people at SGI, I truly believe.
However, it is also our belief that IBM is dying for the SGI modular single-system-image cc numaflex architecture and its visualization technologies, and these:
1} the world fastest shared file system, 2} the uniquely designed Universally Accessible Storage Architecture, enabling access to data from all the different platforms. 3} the fact that VAN technologies can be further extended to PDAs and other handheld devices, regardless of platforms. In the coming age of globally wireless, with vedeo and images dominated data sets, whoever gets these VAN technologies will be the king. There are no competitors in VAN. Or at best, they are just amateur. 4} the high end professional consulting and field engineers, with the ability to deal with today's ever growing computational challenges and problems. As worldwide computational infrastructure continues to broaden and deepen, we need more highly qualified sale consultants and field engineers. now that's the kind of talk this systems, marketing, sales, presentation, and all around nice guy and long time admirer of amazing SGI technology likes to hear.
Needless to say, IBM will do everything possible to continue sitting on top of the world. IBM needs to grow, needs new revenue bases, needs to get into high growth areas, VAN is a huge opportunity. messages.yahoo.com
