Yesterday while waiting for someone i flipped through a Vancouver Sun from last week, found references to three people i know or knew ... now this paper covers the province, it's rare to find in it one person with whom i've been personally acquainted ... one was no surprise, the second very much so, a five-year memoriam for a guy i knew many years ago, he died in a 1997 accident and i didn't even know, had lost touch ... but the third, woooo -
A 55 year old inmate of some crown hostelry was making accusations of sexual abuse against staff at the reform school for boys where he had been incarcerated at the age of 15 .... front and centre in the individuals named was a man i knew well years ago, now dead some ten years ... well i just don't believe it, this was a moral man, and some piece of detritus without whom the world would be better off is using the system to taint somebody's name in an effort to gain attention, money, release from somewhere, whatever .... imho
Someone [Laz?] upthread says only the US is dealing with priests/abuse - well at least ten years ago we went through the first major wave here, google should bring up lots on a search with 'Mount Cashel' for instance
