Back to the mid east. The shame of it is that currently there are no good guys. Sharon is a bad guy. Since he came into office he has inflamed the Palistinians so Arafat the other bad guy found his base again. The Bush doctrine has no meaning in this conflict since both men are or have been terrorists. The US now looks enfeebled in that part of the world as both sides have told us to but out. Can we be proud of an ally that wants to keep a population virtually imprisoned? I don't know what to do but W et al have let two madmen run loose because he didn't want to dirty his hands.
