Keep up the good posts Night Writer. It will be interesting to see how CPQ's management responds to this information and if they begin to distance themselves from the merger.

Management quality is one of the most difficult things for an investor to quantify when making an investment. I want my management to error in favor of the shareholder because we really do not have any other group to support our vested interests. I have to respect WW Hewlett for stepping outside the boundary of "YES" men to support the long-term interests of the shareholder. He is one of a very few individual board members of any fortune 500 company that could do this because of his large HWP equity holdings.

I own stock in both companies and am disappointed in my management, especially HWP. One of the reasons for my investment in HWP was because of the quality of their management (i.e. the HP way). With CF, I am rethinking her management abilities or perhaps she just is not listening to her senior management.
