Looks like someone is still finding gold:

"$6 million investment in a remote property high in the mountains of Peru has netted it one of its most significant gold discoveries of the past decade, helping it expand its presence in South America. Barrick Gold, the world's second-biggest gold producer, said on Tuesday the discovery at its Alto Chicama property in north-central Peru could contain more than 3.5 million ounces of gold. "
