I am much less excited about incorporating a camera into a phone. For records of important events, the quality will be anywhere near that of a digital video camera. For road accidents, there is no need for instant communication. How many people carry a camera for this, or for citizen news gathering, anyway? Brands at the grocery store? Maybe, but I'd think a verbal description would be sufficient.

I see them as being similar to Polaroid cameras in their application. Some will be attracted by the novelty of immediate access - or the ability to disseminate instantaneously. Later, quality issues will ensure that only a minority who truely need that immediacy will use them. I am sure the ladies who advertise their wares in London call boxes will find them useful, as will their clients.

Ashley, the unwowed.
