However I don't really support the idea of using a xphobia to mean anything other then a phobia about x.

According to the AHD, the word phobia means "a strong fear, dislike, or aversion" and the word homophobia means "aversion to gay or homosexual people OR their lifestyle or culture".

I think JC has been pretty upfront about his aversion..so yes, the word seems very accurate.
