Reagan was the main cheerleader for deregulating the S&Ls. He made it one of the keystones of bringing us out of recession. I still recall his impassioned speeches making it sound that anybody who didn't go along with it was unpatriotic, and those in congress with no backbone went along with it. You right wingers like to forget Reagan's huge errors. Another one was feeding Afghanistan's future terrorists money, building their fortified caves, and arming and training them, all because he had the simplistic idea that Communism had to be resisted at all costs. Now we have another right wing leader that only sees black and white.
