I think none of this has ever really been about earnings or shareholder value. To me it looks like a clash of cultures and maybe some sentimentality about the good old days. Maybe that's why it has all turned into an epic saga and a grim, life or death mentality. You might not be far from the truth in suggesting it is "... for the cpq culture to completely kill off the HP Way."

I don't know how else to explain all the emotion and its current blistering than to imagine it's almost a battle of opposing faiths. It really doesn't seem to be about arithmetic.
